Esports tournaments are nearly always physical events where occur in front of a live audience. The tournament may participate a larger gathering, such as Dreamhack, or your competition might be the entirety of the event, like the planet Cyber Games. Tournaments take several forms, but the most common are sole or double removal, sometimes hybridized with group stage. Competitions will often have referees or officers to monitor for cheating. Although competitions regarding video gaming have long been around, esports underwent a substantial move in the later 1990s. You start with the Cyberathlete Professional Group in 1997, competitions became much larger, and corporate sponsorship became more common. Increasing viewership both in person and online helped bring esports to a wider audience.
