The initial known video game competition occurred on 19 October 1972 at Stanford School for the overall game Spacewar.[15] Stanford students were invited for an "Intergalactic spacewar olympics" whose grand prize was a year's subscription for Rolling Rock, with Bruce Baumgart being successful the five-man-free-for-all tournament and Tovar and Robert E.
